My Child Therapy Specialties

Anxiety & Worry

When worry takes over, everyday things become overwhelming. I help children understand their anxiety and learn practical strategies to feel brave again—without forcing them to "just calm down."

Self-Esteem & Confidence

Some kids carry a harsh inner critic that tells them they're not good enough. I use a strengths-based approach to help children see what makes them capable, creative, and worthy.

OCD in Children

Intrusive thoughts and rituals can be confusing and scary for kids. I use child-friendly ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) to help children take back control from OCD.

Life Transitions

New school. Parents divorcing. Moving to a new home. Big changes can shake a child's sense of safety. I help kids process change and find their footing again.

What Child Therapy Looks Like

1

Play-Based & Engaging

Children learn through play, not lectures. Sessions include games, art, and activities that help kids express what words can't capture.

2

Evidence-Based Tools

I use CBT, ACT, and ERP, adapted to be kid-friendly. Your child learns real coping skills they can actually use.

3

Parent Involvement

You're part of the team. I share progress, teach strategies for home, and help you understand what's driving your child's behavior.

Why choose Light Minds?

Specialized Experience

I focus specifically on children, teens, and families, not a general practice that happens to see kids. Your child works with someone who truly understands their world.

Evidence-Based & Play-Based

I use proven techniques like CBT and ERP, adapted through play and creativity so children can actually learn and apply them. No dry worksheets, just real skills that stick.

Family-Centered Approach

I don't work with your child in a vacuum. You're part of the process, learning strategies to support progress at home and understanding what's really going on beneath the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If your child is struggling with emotions, behavior, or life changes in a way that's affecting their daily life, therapy can help. You don't need a diagnosis or crisis to reach out—early support often prevents bigger problems later.

  • I work with children ages 6 and up. For younger children, I often recommend parent coaching as the primary intervention, since parents can make a huge impact on a young child's emotional development.

  • Play is a child's natural language. Through play, children express feelings they can't put into words, work through difficult experiences, and practice new skills. It might look like "just playing," but there's a lot happening beneath the surface.

  • I'll share general themes and progress, but I also protect your child's trust by keeping some things between us. If there's ever a safety concern, I'll always let you know.

  • It varies. Some children benefit from a few months of focused work; others need longer support. We'll check in regularly about progress and adjust as needed.

  • Light Minds is an out-of-network provider. I provide superbills you can submit to your PPO for potential reimbursement. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale slots.

Help Your Child Build a Lighter Mind

Childhood should be a time of curiosity, play, and growth — not constant worry or struggle. I'd be honored to help your child find their footing and welcome your family to the Light Minds community.
